The Department of Psychiatry at the Yale University School of Medicine is seeking qualified candidates for 2 postdoctoral psychology positions. The positions will involve participation in a NIMH-funded controlled treatment study of lifestyle modification to reduce weight and associated morbidity in patients with severe mental illness
including schizophrenia.  Positions will also include involvement with other studies investigating the treatment of sleep problems and working memory improvement, utilizing pharmacology and neuropsychological testing paradigms, in mentally ill populations.

Successful candidates will work closely with the Principal Investigator (Cenk Tek, M.D.)
and a team of co-Investigators with complementary expertise in obesity, severe mental illness, behavioral treatment, nutrition, and medicine (including Drs. Carlos Grilo, Bruce Wexler, Bruce Rounsaville, Michel Jean-Baptiste, Lydia Chwastiak). Positions are available July 2010 but start dates are flexible.

Candidates must have a doctoral degree in clinical or health psychology, including completion of an APPIC-approved internship, and experience in health psychology and/or working with either obese and/or eating-disordered patients or with severe mental illness. Experience with behavioral weight loss interventions is also desirable, but not required.

The position follows NIH-levels for post-doc stipends. The position meets requirements for psychology licensure, is tailor-made for competitive application for the NIH loan repayment program, and is ideal for persons interested in pursuing either clinical or clinical-research careers. Intensive training and supervision will be provided and there are extensive (mentored) opportunities for collaborative research.

Interested candidates should send a CV and statement of interests and experiences
(reference letters will be requested after initial review) by email to:
